Light meters

PL

Light meter is a device that measures the light in order to determine the appropriate exposure for the shot. Analog instrumentation with selenium photocell which is a source of tension were the most frequently used in popular models of light meters used by amateur photographers. Did not require batteries to power, but the selenium cell parameters changed as a result of aging.
Later used a more sensitive photovoltaic cells made from cadmium sulfide (CdS), whose effect was to change in resistance with change of lighting. Light meters are used to measure light reflected from the subject, or the incident light (measured by a white translucent plate.) CdS light meters use batteries required, but its sensitivity was several times higher than the selenium light meters.
