The company was founded by the inventor George Eastman and investor Henry A. Strong in 1881 as The Eastman Dry Plate and Film Company. The company's headquarters is in Rochester, New York, in the United States. In 2012, Kodak filed for bankruptcy protection. The company managed to pay off its outstanding debts, carried out a restructuring and in 2013 announced that the threat of bankruptcy had passed.
